I do read every week. Never too busy for you! Ellery hits the screen! I'm going to hope that's a fact. Congrats!

Susan Campbell is a true find. I love Phosis and have recommended her Substack and YOURS!

Like I suppose every writer with two books "she thinks!" should be movies, I wish I knew how to pitch or someone who would do it for me. Not my strong suit, but at least I have you as a reader: bless your beautiful, heart and brilliant mind.

Good luck with the health crisis--scary stuff and I know you've been there: me too, not so by the way!

Oof, yes, things seem to be resolving on the family health front--I just hope it stays that way. Susan is a gem! Thank you for recommending us both! I'm fortunate enough to have gotten Ellery optioned and adapted but, as you probably know, there are still many steps in between that and done. And there are so many ways your work can end up completely unrecognizable in the final cut. And with shooting, most film & TV projects I've been close to always end in tears and recriminations and so I tend to stand back... well out of the drama... until there's a way I can be useful :)

Thanks for the recs - I grew up in the Adirondacks, so I can’t wait to check out the novel!

If you're familiar with all the old family camps in the Adirondacks and what it means to be lost in the woods there, it will be breathtaking for you.

I want to say yes to writer’s room! I’m feeling overwhelmed with projects lately and am committed in the next few weeks to dieting out some much needed schedule management. Anytime an opp to play with you is a no brainer (or all brainer) though so I’d like to give it a thought or two and circle back!

I think we should maybe start it Jan? There are so many holidays coming up and people need time to ferment on their own ideas. We'd do one head writer per session and all have a chance to read their draft in advance... so we'd be coming in with ideas, notes, and "What if..?" questions, etc.

Great idea. I’ve been in a few writers groups. Always good to have some ground rules.

We did not click with Industry but we binged and finished the first season of Nobody Wants This. It’s LOL funny.

I have heard amazing things about Nobody Wants This! I intend to laugh/cry binge it over homemade pumpkin bars this week! For The Writing Room, we'd def have ground rules from the best rooms I've seen, so that everyone felt comfortable, productive, and at their funniest... And we'd have an NDA/non-compete.

I love this idea, but how can we be certain that our ideas/treatments/scripts won't be stolen? Can there be some kind of like, Integrity Pledge© that we all take, where we promise not to do it? I fucking love Industry and I whooped with joy when plans for a 4 season were announced. I don't know the background of Love is Blue well enough to guess the connection between Harper and Eric, but I did read somewhere that Martin Amis played that record over and over while he was writing "The Rachel Papers", which takes place during that swinging 60s period, so there. Back in Kindergarten someone tried to make me go to school wearing a lace blouse and it was so itchy that I tore it off at recess and stomped on it, and that's pretty much how roll now. But this is otherwise a great edit!

I whooped with JOY too re: Season 4! Re: IP theft... So, all participants would need to sign a legally binding NDA, non-compete, as well as a no-a**holes/Integrity Pledge©... that way everyone's clear and can be open with ideas. The reality is very few things make it through in TV/film--a smidge more often in books, but ultimately you still want people to feel safe, bonded, and inspired if the group is actually going to accomplish any meaningful work. The connection between Harper, Eric, and the song is so simple you will laugh, but GREAT Amis trivia! And you are SO like my daughter--ripping off the lace blouse! WAY, WAY too itchy!

My writing partner and I had a sit-com pilot stolen. We called it "Out of the Blue" and they called and produced it as "Wings." The timing was perfect from when we sent it > same plot and ensemble cast. Well at least it was a success but plagerized.

I remember you telling me this! It's the worst story ever... I think anything shared would also need to be watermarked and registered with the guild. At least, there'd be a group of witnesses if anyone decided to be a jerkwad.
