I can't stop laughing at "Pope Francis, again, for apparently telling a group of young priests that 'gossip is a women’s thing' and that men have to do the talking because 'we wear the trousers'." It makes me think of 80s comedies where a man would casually say something of that nature. I wish I could keep and invest in diary writing. But I always end up giving up on the endeavor. I feel like my Substack is a diary of sorts, so I guess that works!

Prince was just doing what all of us have wanted to do at one time or another... we just weren't small enough to do it. LOL

I'd have to be like... an ant... lol... and have many escape routes, but I appreciate his eccentricity :)

Right? Like that suitcase would have to have been tricked out by David Copperfield because, yes, "ALL the escape routes." LOL

yes but there is something hypnotic about Prince's weirdness like when one of his songs i must have downloaded with an entire album comes up on the endless shuffle (yes i live in a music bubble and i like it) and he is just talking very strange erotic spiritual shit with this eery celestial electric (i mean synthesised electric is redundant) organ as background before breaking into some club tune and you are totally relaxed......aieeeeeee

plus i am in the middle of that Cyndi Lauper doc. on hulu and how fucking cool is she??!!!?? positive vibes love it

I have to say, one of my fondest memories of New York is being down at Arthur's on Grove and the band breaking out into Prince's 'Sexy MF' and the entire floor being packed with bodies just grooving underneath that famous sign that read "Absolutely No Dancing"... Oh, he was def channeling something... I cannot wait to start the Cyndi doc...so need that positive juju right now.

i was hoping to see some mention of Johnson State College in Vermont near where she went briefly i was told when i lived up that way but it didn't factor in that big musically i guess.....it will certainly make you smile and god her singing range is something i had NO idea of this is Linda Ronstadt territory and no doubt i screwed up that spelling

OMG where did you find that AbFab image? I would frame it and hang it in my office! I love that show so much and I know every episode by heart, I could win a fucking pub trivia contest. I'm thinking about doing an entire theme about ambition, it's so fucking important for midlife women, and BTW I think it's very tied to victory, as per my post this morning.

Agree 100 re: Ambition. The AbFab image is a very small, spendy print on metal available on Pixels. I'm partial to the Tee: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1160493467/absolutely-fabulous-vintage-t-shirt - on sale now, lol.

Great round-up. Re: Jennifer Lopez, I'm bewildered by all the hate she catches. Maybe it's because I'm middle-aged. I love seeing other middle-aged people winning. And she is winning -- with the success of Atlas, she's the only star male or female to reach #1 in viewership ratings on streaming platforms 4 times within 2 years.

And say what you want about the topic, if you really watch Hustlers, it's an excellent film.
