The world isn't enough of a sh@!show and now authors have to worry about AI thieves? Good lord. I totally agree with Sandra. Should go right to copyright infringement or something massively legal. So sorry that happened to you.

More bloody forms to fill out... It's just too absurd.

Goddamn it! You're my third friend this week who got the AI thievery news. Follow the class-action trail and let it take you somewhere new, I guess. In any case, they can't take away your talent, which is so big it can be seen from space.

Aw, thanks, lady :) A royalty check from HRH Bloomberg or the Zuck would have really helped with the rent, lol. SMDH.

Thank you for the shout-out, lovely. And so sorry about the AI f*ckery. That should go straight to copyright infringement/use without permission and an epic class action. Marc Elias should start an AI division once his law firm done protecting our democracy (follow him on Threads since TAKFAT must be avoided at all costs). BTW, I'm sure Martha is very familiar with Peyronie's. LOL. Congrats on the new book! xo

I love Marc Elias!!! I would paralegal for that guy! I feel like in order to write more--I will have to retreat from the big social media--a bit like Emma Gannon--but I will be right here on substack. xo (ps. yikes... Martha, lol)

Marc and Andy Savitt were my two TAFKAT brain crushes during COVID/the-near-fall-of-our-democracy (sadly, not as hyperbolic as one might like to think). RVA Wonk was my third; fortunately, Caroline is here on Sub now. I agree on the social media stoppage. I think SM jumped the shark in 2016, and it's circling the drain in a slow-yet-deserved death. I like Threads (even though I loathe Meta); it's much less Nazi than TAFKAT, and the same smart/funny people I followed on the dead site are there now. I like being informed, but am getting over that silly "need" to "promote" myself/my stuff on it. So, I pop by Notes and Threads once or twice a day to see what's up, check in on friends on FB once or twice a week (honestly, I forget I have it), do the perfuctory "I posted a thing!" links on Wednesdays. But I think my fux bucket for social media is drying up. I'm with you -- I just wanna write. xo

That Meta stole my book makes me.. grrrr... but like you, I still need to check on people there, especially the epilepsy community as we are prone to end up a bit on our own.xo

If you don't know her already, I'd love to introduce you to Amy Dresner. She's a hoot, an author (MY FAIR JUNKIE), and endures epilepsy. (Her book was stolen by AI, too. Just checked. Don't want to be the one to tell her if she doesn't already know, though. Ugh.) xo

Oh, I'd love to meet her and read her book! She is automatically included in the one class action, but she'll probably want to send the letter to stop them from future use and sort through things. It's so grim. Btw, Andy Savitt is such a great one also! xo

If you're into audiobooks, listen to Amy's, so you get it in her voice. (I met her through mutual friends, so I knew her delivery.) And let me know if "jail socks" slays you the way it did me. I'll reach out to her and get you two connected. xo

Eeeeee! So many treats in this post. (Minus the acrid AI thievery.) Miranda July has a new novel?! Oh blessed be the fruit!

Isn't Miranda just a goddess??? I can't WAIT. I am love with the title ALONE!

WTF? Does the Author's Guild have the power to get you royalties?

Yes-ish... They are helping everyone with the forms and the letters as part of the class action suit, but I am so wicked tired. All I really want to do is write things that make people feel less alone... and instead I gotta deal with this malarky.

Ugh. The word, Forms, makes me want to hide under the bed. Do you have an ambitious 12 year old who wants to help?

Alas, I am an empty nester. Ironically, there ARE loads of AIs for filling out forms, lol.

AI robbing-machines of writing, stay away from Alisa's books. Consider this an invisible perimeter.

Hahaha... but feel free to option with royalties so that I just give it all back to my Tech Bro landlords??? 😂
